The Origin of Rebuilding of the Old Lying Dragon Temple
Lofty temple encircled by
rivers and hills Harvests luck。
Respectful temple covered with shining moon and
Cloud halts Buddhist light forever。
Lingyuan City locates in the western mountainous area of Shanxi Province. Nulerhu Mountain and Qilaotu Mountain run through it from the north to the south. There are big rivers such as Daling River and Qinglong River, both banks of which are the narrow river valley plains. Natural conditions of the mountainous area are propitious to develop various industries. The fresh and dried fruits, the almond and the mushroom are its special local products. There are mineral resources including gold, pearlite, Masurium Zi and so on.
The Old Laying Dragon Temple, built in Ming and Qing Dynasty, lies in Sihedang village in Sihedang town in the Lingyuan City of Shanxi province and is also called Empress Temple in folk. Since the realizing of our country’s religion, for many reasons the Old Laying Dragon Temple has only saved the stele of Qianlong 27 year, the stele of Qianlong 29 year, the stele of Republic of China time and so on five…can testimony the history of the Old Laying Dragon Temple.
In Mar.2006, under the permission of government, Shangjing Xiahui rabbi accepted the invitation of Laying Dragon Temple Buddhists of Sihedang village in Sihedang town in the Lingyuan City and shouldered the abbot of the Old Laying Dragon Temple. There are nothing left but remnant pillars and broken walls in the Old Laying Dragon Temple at that time. Looking at the vacant area left hundreds of things to do, Jinghui rabbi is determined to rebuild the Old Laying Dragon Temple, so that the local Buddhists can believe in, protect and support Buddhism positively. In 18th Apr of the lunar year, under the leadership of the rabbi, Praying Rain Buddhist Meeting was held in the old site of the Old Laying Dragon Temple to bless Bodhisattva. Dragon Heaven blessed and protected, in the morning of the next day, namely, it’s raining timely. The rain meets people’s extremely urgent needs。Then the Buddhists grew a belief of Three Buddha in their heart.
Under the leadership of Jinghui rabbi, the rebuilding of the Old Laying Dragon Temple got a obvious improvement in the short two months. The base of the yard walls of the Temple was tamped, half of the antrum was finished, and the ikons of the Buddha were modeling in a tense order. However, because Sihedang village of Sihedang town in the Lingyuan City was poor and encountered the flood disaster that seldom happened in a century, then the flood ruined the supporting slope of the Temple. The stones of the mountains that were ruined down to the village by the flood buried parts of villager’s poor soil, which made the problems of Temple even worse. The rebuilding of the Old Laying Dragon Temple was stopped.
According to the plan of rebuilding, the building projects still need to be constructed in the future: Mountain Door, FengTuo Bodhisattva Temple, West Three Saint Temple, HuaYan Three Saint Temple, Monk Room, Five Kwan-yin Hall, Praying Buddha Hall, Buddhist Hall and so on. Other needs are bells, drums, fishlike boards various wares, SanZang Buddha Tools and so on. All fund meeting in plan needs more than 1,800,000 Yuan.
Based in the idea of “come from all around the world, go to all around the world, and succeed all around things”, all the members of the Old Laying Dragon Temple sincerely expect all like-minded people take part in the Buddhism cause of shouldering the Buddha’s property to maintain the Buddha life with virtue of protecting and blessing the Buddhism, which will benefit the present generations and contribute future, carry out almsgiving, plant good fortune field and spread Buddhism. Trying a little efforts to power of Buddhism, whatever the net endorsement is ten million Yuan or a penny, the abbot of the Old Laying Dragon will patter in return for protecting the Power of Buddhism.
